Basketball Game Preview: West Florida Jaguars vs. Escambia Gators

West Florida hasn't had much luck against Escambia recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The West Florida Jaguars will look to defend their home court against the Escambia Gators at 7:30 p.m. West Florida will be strutting in after a win while Escambia will be coming in after a loss.

On Saturday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, West Florida beat Lighthouse Private Christian Academy 70-65.

Meanwhile, Escambia was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 70-48 to Booker T. Washington. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 541st, while the Wildcats are ranked 146th).

West Florida's victory bumped their record up to 7-9. As for Escambia, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

West Florida came up short against Escambia in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 53-44. Can West Florida avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
