Basketball Recap: Geffen Academy's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Wednesday

After flying high against Hawthorne Math & Science Academy on Tuesday, Geffen Academy came back down to earth. The Geffen Academy Bruins fell just short of the Vistamar Vikings by a score of 63-60 on Wednesday. The Bruins' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Geffen Academy still got an impressive performance from Nathan M, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 boards. The game was M's sixth in a row with at least ten points.

Leading Vistamar to victory were Landon McMorris and Isaiah Hill. McMorris went 14 of 30 on his way to 32 points along with eight rebounds and four steals, while Hill went 12 for 21 en route to 29 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which McMorris has scored at least a third of Vistamar's points.

Geffen Academy's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-4. As for Vistamar, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-3.

Geffen Academy will face off against California Academy of Math & Science at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Geffen Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine matchups. Vistamar has already played their next contest, a 74-42 victory against New Roads on the 24th.
