Basketball Recap: King Falls Despite Big Games from Nuri Hakim and Rodney Smith

King was the 73-34 winner over Chamberlain when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The King Lions received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 61-47 to the Chamberlain Storm. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 656th, while the Storm are ranked 249th).

King's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Rodney Smith, who posted 19 points and three steals, and Nuri Hakim, who went 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points and seven rebounds. The game was Hakim's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Parker, who had four points along with seven boards and three steals.

King is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7. As for Chamberlain, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

King didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-41 loss against Steinbrenner on the 11th. As for Chamberlain, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 68-44 win against Lennard on the 11th.
