Football Recap: Hernando Skates Past Classical Prep with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hernando). They blew past the Classical Prep Lions, posting a 46-0 victory. Given the Leopards' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Lions are ranked 150th) , the win on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

A big part of Hernando's win came down to the chemistry between Alexis Sway and her top target Carlie Grant. Sway gained 56 total yards and four touchdowns while Grant rushed for 54 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. An impressive showing, but Sway really ramped things up playing D: she picked up five sacks and made seven total tackles (6.0 for loss).

Hernando didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Savanna Condron and Ayana Kincade.

Hernando has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.4 points over those games. As for Classical Prep, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Hernando didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 38-32 loss against Wildwood on the 8th. As for Classical Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-0 win against Seven Rivers Christian on the 7th.
