Recap: Gadsden City Titans vs. Clay-Chalkville Cougars
The Gadsden City Titans lost against the Clay-Chalkville Cougars back in November, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Gadsden City took a 40-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clay-Chalkville. While losing is never fun, Gadsden City can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 153rd, while Clay-Chalkville is ranked 19th).
When it comes to explaining why Gadsden City lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mariah Ragland. Despite the final result, she scored 11 points along with 3 steals. Aniyah Williams was another key contributor, scoring 8 points.
Gadsden City has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Clay-Chalkville, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.
Gadsden City will head out on the road to face off against Huffman at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Clay-Chalkville, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Springville at 6:00 p.m.
