Soccer Game Preview: Spooner vs. Superior

Spooner is 0-3 against Superior since September of 2016 but things could change on Monday. The Rails will welcome the Spartans at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Spooner took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They never let Hayward get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. The win was some much needed relief for Spooner as it spelled an end to their three-match losing streak.

Their one-goal win came courtesy of Zander Walt, who's now up to four this season.

Meanwhile, Superior beat Chippewa Falls 3-1 on Saturday. Superior haven't had any issues with Chippewa Falls recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Superior's win bumped their record up to 11-3-1. As for Spooner, their victory bumped their record up to 5-9-1.

Spooner might still be hurting after the 6-0 loss they got from Superior in their previous meeting back in October of 2023. Can the Rails avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
