Volleyball Recap: Hutto Comes Up Short

Hutto lost against Cedar Ridge back in September and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hippos fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 3-2. While the Hippos didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 25-18 in the first set.

Hutto wouldn't go down easily and took Cedar Ridge into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking four-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-20, 26-28, 25-19, 15-11.

Ellie Witcher paced Hutto's offense, picking up 15 kills. Witcher got some help from Kharmin Fisher and her 24 assists. Witcher was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Hutto has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-25 record this season. As for Cedar Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 19-16.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Hutto will face off against rival Stony Point at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Cedar Ridge is set to square off against their familiar foe Vista Ridge at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
