Basketball Recap: Central Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Central can now relate to. They were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 58-57 to the Canyon Hills Rattlers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Spartans of the 64-58 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2022.

Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was James Tovar, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 23 points and seven rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 80% in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joap Soto Chavez, who went 5-for-9 en route to 12 points and four steals.

Central's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Canyon Hills, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-16.

Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Canyon Hills, they will venture away from home to take on Maranatha Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
