Basketball Recap: Reagan Rivers' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chesterfield over Hartsville

Chesterfield saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 42-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hartsville Red Foxes. The Golden Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chesterfield lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Reagan Rivers, who posted 14 points. Kai Pace was another key player, putting up eight points and nine rebounds.

Hartsville was led to victory by Brooke Mitchell and Zenaria Gibson. Mitchell put up 13 points along with eight boards and four steals, while Gibson had 14 points and five steals. Mitchell is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Blakney Dawson, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Chesterfield's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Hartsville, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Chesterfield didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 49-42 win against McBee on the 28th. As for Hartsville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-27 defeat against Forest Hills on the 28th.
