Soccer Game Preview: Columbus vs. Lincoln Southeast

The Columbus Discoverers will face off against the Lincoln Southeast Knights at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.

While Columbus' win against North Platte wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Discoverers narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 2-1. The win continues a trend for Columbus in their matchups with North Platte: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Lincoln Southeast faced Lincoln Southwest in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Knights' defense stepped up to hand the Silver Hawks a 1-0 shutout. Lincoln Southeast wouldn't have won without Gerardo Valenciano, who scored the game-winner.

The victory was the third in a row for Lincoln Southeast, bringing their record up to 8-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those three matches. As for Columbus, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
