Basketball Recap: Siegel Comes Up Short

Siegel lost against Rockvale back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Siegel Stars had to suffer through a 76-27 loss at the hands of Rockvale. While losing is never fun, the Stars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Rockvale are ranked 57th).

Despite the defeat, Siegel had strong showings from Neela Alexander, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds, and Aubrie Carroll, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 12 points. Alexander has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last three times she's played.

Rockvale found their leader in sophomore Jade Watson, who went 15-for-21 en route to 31 points and seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Watson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Amaya Nash, who went 5-for-10 on her way to 18 points and three steals.

Siegel has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 14 of their last 15 contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-18 record this season. As for Rockvale, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Siegel didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 46-9 loss against Warren County on the 11th. As for Rockvale, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 45-43 win against Blackman on the 11th.
