Softball Recap: Skyline's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Skyline). They blew past the Holbrook Roadrunners 14-2 on Saturday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Coyotes as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Kaleigha Clytus made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Clytus was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lilliana Leon-Valenzuela, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. That stolen base marked the first that she snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Kailey Meyer, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Skyline's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Holbrook, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Skyline didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-6 loss against Williams Field on the 1st. As for Holbrook, they will be playing at home against Ganado at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
