Basketball Recap: McCutcheon Comes Up Short

McCutcheon and Kokomo squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but McCutcheon had to settle for second. They took a 70-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kokomo Wildkats. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Mavericks still had to take the loss.

When it comes to explaining why McCutcheon lost, don't look at Brody Baker. Despite the final result, he shot 53% from the field on his way to 28 points and five boards. The match was Baker's 12th in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Raeke, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Kokomo got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was A'Dayveon Young out in front who went 6-for-15 to rack up 16 points and five steals. What's more, Young posted four boards, the most he's had since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Zion Bellamy, who had 16 points and five rebounds.

McCutcheon's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Kokomo, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-7.

McCutcheon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kokomo, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-63 defeat against Harrison on the 8th.
