It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Apollo ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Cesar Chavez Champions. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with the Champions: they've now won three in a row.

Angel Hernandez got the start for Apollo and what a start it was: he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Hernandez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Apollo saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aldo Nunez, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Apollo's record now sits at 13-5. As for Cesar Chavez, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Apollo will head out to challenge Tolleson at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cesar Chavez, they will venture away from home to face off against Millennium at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
