Baseball Game Preview: Thornwell Saints vs. Abbeville Panthers

The Thornwell Saints will face off against the Abbeville Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Thornwell's offense. They lost 10-0 to Carolina Academy on Thursday. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Saints' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Abbeville put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their undefeated season alive. Everything went their way against Ware Shoals as Abbeville made off with an 11-3 win. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Panthers this season.

Adam Beiler was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Beiler was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Ben Overholt was excellent, going 2-for-5 with four RBI and one triple. Another player making a difference was Grady Overholt, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Abbeville's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-0-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Thornwell, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
