Baseball Recap: Valmeyer Takes a Loss

Valmeyer lost against Gibault Catholic back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Pirates fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 4-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 22, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Valmeyer saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Roy, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases. Roy is becoming a predictor of the Pirates' success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 5-16 when he doesn't).

Valmeyer's defeat dropped their record down to 10-17. As for Gibault Catholic, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-16.

Coincidentally, Valmeyer and Gibault Catholic will both be playing Waterloo the next time they take the field. The Hawks will host the Bulldogs at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while the Pirates will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
