Basketball Recap: Eli Jaixen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Arcadia/Loup City over Wood River

Arcadia/Loup City lost against Wood River back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Arcadia/Loup City Rebels took a 60-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wood River Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 175th, while the Eagles are ranked 47th).

Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Eli Jaixen, who posted 17 points and eight assists. The dominant performance gave Jaixen a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Lewandowski, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 12 points and seven rebounds.

Arcadia/Loup City has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season. As for Wood River, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2.

Arcadia/Loup City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 55-33 loss against Central City on the 10th. As for Wood River, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 76-51 win against Ravenna on the 10th.
