Football Recap: Thomas Heyward Academy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

While it was Thomas Heyward Academy who put the first points on the board on Friday, it was Orangeburg Prep who put up more. The contest between the Rebels and the Indians didn't end well, with the Rebels falling 41-27. The Rebels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Thomas Heyward Academy still got an impressive performance from Tony O'Banner, who rushed for 300 yards and four scores while picking up 15.8 yards per carry. O'Banner really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

A big part of Orangeburg Prep's win came down to the chemistry between Cholly Williams and his top target Tilden Riley. Williams threw for 275 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.8 yards per attempt while Riley gained 256 total yards and three touchdowns. Riley also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making six total tackles and defending one pass in addition to snagging an interception.

This is the second loss in a row for Thomas Heyward Academy and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Orangeburg Prep, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Thomas Heyward Academy wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 40-12 defeat against Williamsburg Academy on the 12th. As for Orangeburg Prep, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 41-0 victory against Clarendon Hall on the 12th.
