Basketball Recap: University Takes a Loss

If University was feeling good fresh off their 80-50 takedown of Northridge back in December of 2024, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The University Bulldogs took a 49-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Timnath Cubs. The matchup marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, University still got an impressive performance from Gage Schminke, who posted 11 points. Marcus Prestwich was another key player, putting up seven points along with five boards and three steals.

Leading Timnath to victory were Max Roselle and Jack Hemme. Roselle went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and eight rebounds, while Hemme went 5 for 8 on his way to 14 points and seven boards. Hemme continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Jacobson, who scored five points and seven rebounds.

University's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Timnath, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.

University has already played their next contest, an 80-41 win against Valley on the 16th. As for Timnath, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 55-32 victory against Roosevelt on the 21st.
