Softball Game Preview: Athens Warriors vs. Jacksonville Crimsons

The Athens Warriors will challenge the Jacksonville Crimsons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Athens is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Athens fell victim to Springfield and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Senators, falling 10-0. Having soared to a lofty 15 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Jacksonville). They blew past MacArthur 27-2 on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Crimsons, who have now won three matches in a row.

Athens' defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Jacksonville, their win bumped their record up to 7-8-1.

Athens took their victory against Jacksonville when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 17-6 score. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Crimsons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
