Recap: Providence Academy Lions vs. Stewartville Tigers
The Providence Academy Lions entered their tilt with the Stewartville Tigers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Providence Academy narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Stewartville 75-73. Given Providence Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Stewartville is ranked 53rd), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Providence Academy found their leader in underclassman Maddyn Greenway, who scored 36 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Greenway has scored at least 25% of Providence Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ari Peterson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.
Providence Academy's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Stewartville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Edina at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. As for Stewartville, they will face off against Kasson-Mantorville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Kasson-Mantorville has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
