Basketball Recap: Plattsmouth Comes Up Short

Plattsmouth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 55-46 to the Standing Bear Grizzlies. That's two games in a row now that the Blue Devils have lost by exactly nine points.

When it comes to explaining why Plattsmouth lost, don't look at Mila Wehrbein. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 17 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Wehrbein a new career-high in boards. Ruby Campin was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Plattsmouth smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Standing Bear only seven offensive boards.

Standing Bear's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydnie Cain, who dropped a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Cain has become a key player for Standing Bear: the team is 3-1 when she posts at least ten boards, but 3-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Braylee Vasa, who posted nine points along with seven assists and five rebounds.

Plattsmouth's loss dropped their record down to 14-8. As for Standing Bear, their record now sits at 6-14.

Plattsmouth has already played their next game, a 65-19 victory against Ralston on the 22nd. Standing Bear does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
