Volleyball Recap: Gridley Starts off Right with Win over Durham

Gridley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Durham Trojans by a score of 3-1 on Thursday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

The win didn't come easy: Durham scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-20, 21-25, 25-20.

Abby Boyan paced Gridley's offense, picking up ten kills. Boyan got some help from Isabel Santillan and her 32 assists. Boyan was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.

Gridley will head out on the road to face off against Anderson at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Durham, they will be taking part in a tournament against Las Plumas at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
