Football Recap: Joey Michelini Leads Lake Park's Defense on Friday

Lake Park extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 2-3. They lost to the Geneva Vikings on the road by a 35-17 margin. While losing is never fun, the Lancers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Vikings are ranked 28th).

Although Lake Park took the loss, they still got scores from Ian Witt and Emanuele Carrozzoli.

Even if they lost, Lake Park's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In that department, Joey Michelini was the leader with two. He has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last four times he's played.

As for Geneva, they now have a winning record of 3-2. They haven't had any issues with Lake Park recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Geneva got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ben Peterson out in front who threw for 120 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 35 yards and one TD. Another pass catcher making a difference was Bennett Konkey, who picked up 51 receiving yards and one score.

Looking ahead, Lake Park will head out on the road to face off against Glenbard North at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Geneva, they will square off against Batavia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Vikings will need to watch out since the Bulldogs have now posted at least 31 points in their last four games.
