Soccer Game Preview: Western Guilford vs. Northwest Guilford

Western Guilford is 0-7 against Northwest Guilford since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Hornets will venture away from home to take on the Vikings at 7:00 p.m.

Western Guilford is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Ragsdale, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Western Guilford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 360th, while Ragsdale are ranked 111th).

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northwest Guilford, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Reagan a 3-0 shutout on Friday. Northwest Guilford might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by three goals or more this season.

They hit Reagan with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jasmine Greene, Ella Nguyen, and Rory Partyka.

Northwest Guilford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-1-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up four goals over those nine matchups. As for Western Guilford, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9-1.

Western Guilford suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Northwest Guilford in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
