Basketball Game Preview: Carey Blue Devils vs. Mohawk Warriors

Carey and Mohawk are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Carey Blue Devils will square off against the Mohawk Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Last Saturday, Carey had to suffer through a 77-36 loss at the hands of Bluffton. While losing is never fun, the Blue Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 649th, while the Pirates are ranked 163rd).

Meanwhile, Mohawk took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 67-37 win over Ridgemont. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 26 points or more this season.

Mohawk pushed their record up to 9-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Carey, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Carey and Mohawk were neck-and-neck when the teams last played back in January of 2024, but Carey came up empty-handed after a 47-46 loss. Can Carey avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
