Soccer Game Preview: Wesleyan vs. Calhoun

The Wesleyan Wolves will face off against the Calhoun Yellow Jackets at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Calhoun will be up against a hot Wesleyan squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. Wesleyan's defense stepped up to hand Mt. Bethel Christian Academy a 9-0 shutout on Thursday. Given Wesleyan's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 32nd, while Mt. Bethel Christian Academy are ranked 224th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Calhoun, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They put the hurt on LaFayette with a sharp 6-1 victory on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what Calhoun needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.

Wesleyan's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five games. As for Calhoun, their win bumped their record up to 5-8.

Everything went Wesleyan's way against Calhoun in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Wesleyan made off with a 7-0 victory. Will Wesleyan repeat their success, or does Calhoun has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
