Baseball Recap: Carmel Takes a Loss

Marist hit Carmel with a four-run fifth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Corsairs lost 10-4 to the RedHawks. The defeat continues a trend for the Corsairs in their meetings with the RedHawks: they've now lost eight in a row.

Carmel's loss dropped their record down to 11-20. As for Marist, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-12 record this season.

Carmel and Marist could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Corsairs will take on Huntley at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (246 vs. 67). Meanwhile, Marist (ranked 64th) will meet Brother Rice (ranked first) at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
