Softball Recap: Bellevue Tigers vs. Newport Wildcats

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Highlands, Bellevue was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Newport Wildcats a 24-0 shutout. The Tigers have beaten the Wildcats the last eight times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wildcats has come to flipping the script.

Paulina Long made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Long was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Ginny Meece was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Zariah Bedford was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI and one run.
