Basketball Recap: Kennedy Titans vs. Washington Huskies
Kennedy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-64 heartbreaker at the hands of the Washington Huskies. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 781st, while the Huskies are ranked 318th).
Washington had a senior duo take command as Gianni Clark went 11 of 23 on his way to 27 points and three steals and Esean Johnson posted 14 points along with eight assists and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Clark has scored at least a third of Washington's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Uynam Trinh, who had ten points.
Kennedy's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Washington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kennedy will square off against Newark Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Kennedy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Newark Memorial likes a good challenge. As for Washington, they will challenge Moreau Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Moreau Catholic will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Washington surely won't give up without a fight.
