Baseball Recap: South Sumter Comes Up Short

South Sumter dropped down to 10-7 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Tampa Prep Terrapins by a score of 3-1. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 6-2 to the Terrapins when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Tampa Prep, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.67 runs across that stretch.

For Tampa Prep's part, Andrew Bush tossed a big game, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. What's more, Bush posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

On the hitting side, Langston Sallis was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Sumter will welcome Wesley Chapel at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Tampa Prep, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Calvary Christian at 7:00 p.m.
