Softball Recap: Cleveland Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Cleveland came tearing into Thursday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.1 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Clayton Comets. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 last Tuesday.

Karsyn Hudacky spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maddie Murphy and Izzy Sholar did most of the damage at the plate: Murphy went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run, while Sholar scored a run while going 2-for-3. That triple marked the first that Murphy hit this season.

Cleveland's record now sits at 11-3. As for Clayton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cleveland will take on rival Southeast Raleigh at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in the Rams' favor as the team sits on eight straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while the Bulldogs have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Clayton is set to square off against their familiar foe Willow Spring at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
