Baseball Recap: Monarch Starts Season with Victory Against Boulder

Monarch gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They skirted past the Boulder Panthers 5-4. The Coyotes have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Max Webb looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Preston Hutchings was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Blake Thompson, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Boulder's loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Monarch will challenge Westview at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Boulder, they have already played their next match, a 10-9 defeat against Fairview on the 20th.
