Softball Recap: Wharton Gets the Win

While Wharton's win against Chamberlain wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Wharton narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Chamberlain 8-7. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Storm recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Willa Soorus looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she gave up only zero walks, the fewest she's had since back in February.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adriana Cadicamo, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Parker, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Wharton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 6-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory got Wharton back to even at 6-6. As for Chamberlain, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-3.

Looking ahead, Wharton will square off against Wiregrass Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wiregrass Ranch will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something Wharton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Chamberlain, they will take on King at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Chamberlain's pitchers better be ready for this one: King has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season.
