Softball Recap: Springfield Comes Up Short

Monday just wasn't the day for Springfield's offense. They lost 10-0 to the Field Falcons on Monday. The Spartans have struggled against the Falcons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Springfield's defeat dropped their record down to 15-7. As for Field, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will venture away from home to take on Coventry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Comets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.31 runs per game on average), something the Spartans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Field, they will head out to square off against Revere at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Minutemen have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
