Softball Preview: Richmond Oilers vs. De Anza Dons

Richmond is 0-9-1 against De Anza since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Richmond Oilers will head out on the road to challenge the De Anza Dons at 4:00 p.m.

Richmond is is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their seventh straight game on Wednesday. They fell victim to a rough 15-1 defeat at the hands of De Anza.

For De Anza's part, Ma'Yhana Moore and Mya Arroyo were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Moore tossed two innings while giving up no earned run or hits. Meanwhile, Arroyo struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive pitching appearances. At bat, Moore scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances, while Arroyo scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Giselle Taylor was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen two or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Cervantes, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Richmond's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for De Anza, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-6.
