Baseball Game Preview: Mira Mesa Marauders vs. Patrick Henry Patriots

The Mira Mesa Marauders will be taking part in a tournament against the Patrick Henry Patriots at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Mira Mesa is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Maranatha Christian. Mira Mesa came out on top in a nail-biter against Maranatha Christian on Wednesday, sneaking past 4-2.

Zerek Zamora made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Zamora wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Asuncion, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Tristan Aguon was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Patrick Henry took care of business in their home opener on Wednesday. They never let Torrey Pines get on the board and left with a 4-0 win.

Mira Mesa might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Patrick Henry in their previous matchup back in May of 2021. Can Mira Mesa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
