Jewelysa Requejo was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Autumn Baquera was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.
Meanwhile, Cobre faced Silver in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Indians walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Fighting Colts. The win was nothing new for the Indians as they're now sitting on three straight.
Bella Saiz was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Cobre got a massive performance out of Ayvah Ortiz, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Analisa Tovar, who scored two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Cobre was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .595. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Hot Springs is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 18.0 runs over those games. As for Cobre, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
