Baseball Recap: Mount Carmel Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Mount Carmel, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They came out on top against the Central Columbia Bluejays by a score of 9-6 on Wednesday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-2 on April 11th.

Noah Shimko looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lukas Carpenter, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Brayden Brinkash also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Mount Carmel's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Central Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Looking ahead, Mount Carmel will host Montoursville at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the RED TORNADOES' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Central Columbia, they will welcome Lewisburg at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
