Antonian Prep had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 points) and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They managed a 77-71 win over the Empowering Others Prep Kings. Given the Apaches' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Kings are ranked 187th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Antonian Prep got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jamail Garland out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Edison Onwe, who went 6 of 13 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds.

Antonian Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 13 consecutive games.

Antonian Prep has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 27-3 record this season. As for Empowering Others Prep, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Antonian Prep will head out to take on Savio at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Antonian Prep is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.9 points per game this season. As for Empowering Others Prep, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on St. John's at 7:00 p.m. on January 21st.
