Baseball Recap: Mariposa County Finds Home Field Redemption Against Waterford

There's no place like home for Mariposa County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Waterford Wildcats 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won nine in a row.

Ben Lingenfelter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in May of 2024.

At the plate, Carmine Sandoval was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Ezekiel Weiland also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Mariposa County's win bumped their record up to 3-7. As for Waterford, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Coming up, Mariposa County will look to defend their home field on Monday against Delhi at 4:00 p.m. As for Waterford, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-3 victory against Modesto Christian on the 15th.
