Softball Recap: Kokomo Has No Trouble Against Lafayette Jefferson

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pendleton Heights, Kokomo was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos as they made off with an 18-8 victory. Considering the Wildkats have won five games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Amirah Marciniak was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Lanaya Buckner also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Kokomo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.

Kokomo's record is now 8-6. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.

Kokomo will welcome North Central at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed ten runs per game on average), something the Wildkats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they will take on Plainfield in a tournament on Saturday. The Quakers will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Bronchos surely won't give up without a fight.
