Softball Recap: Sunlake Takes a Loss

Sunlake lost against River Ridge back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Sunlake fell 8-4 to River Ridge. The Seahawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zoey Cropper put in work no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (three). She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Abigail Avant made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Analese Lacquey, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Sunlake's loss dropped their record down to 9-4. As for River Ridge, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunlake will square off against Hudson at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for River Ridge, they will face off against Academy of the Holy Names at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. River Ridge's pitchers better be ready for this one: Academy of the Holy Names has averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
