Football Game Preview: Carroll Chargers vs. Penn Kingsmen

The Carroll Chargers will venture away from home to take on the Penn Kingsmen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Carroll comes in on seven and Penn on 11.

Carroll is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 42-23 win over Fort Wayne Northrop.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Gabe Frisinger and David Callison. Frisinger had a great game and rushed for 104 yards and three TDs. Meanwhile, Callison was balling out in the loss, throwing for 378 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.5 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 37 yards.

One reason for the win was Carroll's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Eli Neuhouser, Austin Rohrs, and Evan Brubaker, who each picked up one sack apiece. Another thorn in Fort Wayne Northrop's side was Neuhouser, who picked up a sack, made nine total tackles, and defended two passes.

Meanwhile, Penn faced Crown Point in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Kingsmen snuck past the Bulldogs with a 28-24 victory.

Penn's win bumped their record up to 11-0. As for Carroll, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Everything came up roses for Carroll against Penn when the teams last played back in October of 2022, as the squad secured a 35-7 win. Will the Chargers repeat their success, or do the Kingsmen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
