Softball Recap: Denmark's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Denmark dropped their record down to 7-5 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mishicot Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Vikings of the 16-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

As for Mishicot, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games.

For Mishicot's part, Kiran Sanford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Sanford has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Karsyn Krause was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Cooper Brouchoud, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Denmark and Mishicot should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. The Vikings (ranked 69th) will meet Little Chute (ranked 328th) at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mishicot will take on Manitowoc Lutheran at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (17 vs. 305).
