Softball Game Preview: Penns Grove Red Devils vs. LEAP Academy Lancers

The Penns Grove Red Devils will challenge the LEAP Academy Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Penns Grove and 14 for LEAP Academy.

Penns Grove lost 26-8 to Clayton on Tuesday. That's two games in a row now that the Red Devils have lost by exactly 18 runs.

Jaydelyn Recinos made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Madison Paone, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

Meanwhile, LEAP Academy came up short against Mastery on Tuesday and fell 19-14. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (12), the Lancers still had to take the loss.

W Diaz led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases and two runs. A Polanco was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with eight stolen bases and two runs.

LEAP Academy's loss dropped their record down to 6-28. As for Penns Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-19.

Penns Grove might still be hurting after the 21-11 loss they got from LEAP Academy in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Red Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
