Basketball Recap: Idalia Comes Up Short

Idalia blew Fleming out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Friday Fleming got their revenge. The Idalia Wolves fell just short of the Fleming Wildcats by a score of 33-31. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Despite the loss, Idalia saw an underclassman step up: freshman Broderick Kite posted nine points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Kolby Morris, who scored five points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

Travis Johnson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Fleming, dropping a double-double with 11 points and 14 boards. Johnson has been hot, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Treyson Kirkwood, who put up 11 points.

Idalia has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. Fleming's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-14.

Idalia has already played their next game, a 47-38 win against Peetz on the 25th. As for Fleming, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 58-30 defeat against Otis on the 25th.
