SUGAR LAND, Texas - After taking the lead in the fourth quarter,
Manvel (Texas) held on for a 39-26 victory over
Fort Bend Dulles (Sugar Land, Texas) on Saturday. The difference for the Mavericks was
Shane McCarley ran for a touchdown.
The Mavericks led 20-14 at halftime, but the Vikings recaptured the lead on a rushing touchdown with 4:00 to go in the third. Manvel grabbed hold of the lead when McCarley ran for a touchdown with 11:00 to go in the fourth quarter, and never relinquished it.
MHS's McCarley scored two touchdowns on the ground in the victory.
McCarley stood out for the Mavericks in the win. The senior quarterback threw three touchdowns. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.
The defeat comes as a step back for Fort Bend Dulles, which notched a 42-34 victory over Brazoswood in its previous outing. The loss snapped Fort Bend Dulles' 2-game winning streak.
