Recap: Desert Vista vs. Liberty

Liberty might be getting used to good results now that the squad has three wins in a row. They had just enough and edged out Desert Vista 33-30. The team accrued the bulk of their points in the first half (26) and coasted on those for the victory.

senior Jonah Guevara had a stellar game for the Lions as he passed for 235 yards and three TDs. Guevara has been a guy to keep an eye on this season; he's played big for Liberty in each of their last six games. More help came courtesy of senior Isaiah Pittman, who was good for 18 tackles.

Liberty's defense was a presence as well, and it made life painful for the quarterback and got past Desert Vista's offensive line for a total of four sacks. It was a group effort with four picking up one sack apiece.

A silver lining for Desert Vista was the play of senior Parker Navarro, who accumulated 224 passing yards and punched in two rushing TDs.

The Lions will have some time to rest before their next contest, which is against Red Mountain in two weeks. It should be a fierce showdown as Liberty is ranked 10th in the MaxPreps state rankings and Red Mountain is ranked fifth. As for Desert Vista, they do not have any more games currently scheduled.
