Softball Recap: West Carteret Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

West Carteret entered their tilt with Swansboro on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 6-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-1 back in March.

Caitlin Dumarce tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Millie Kate Young was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Morgan Sawyer was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

West Carteret's record now sits at 18-3. As for Swansboro, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

West Carteret has already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Richlands on the 3rd. Swansboro does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
